"They grabbed me from behind and dragged me out"
NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell (the wife of Fed chairman Alan Greenspan) was harassed by security forces in Sudan, while she tried to ask a question to Sudanese dictator Omar Hassan al-Bashir during a photo opportunity with Condoleezza Rice. Several officials from the US State Department were pushed, shouted at, and slammed against walls, even after the Sudanese government had apologized for the incidents.
Here is Andrea Mitchell's report, in text and on video.
These incidents are, of course, minor when compared to the genocide taking place in the Sudanese province of Darfur. Still, by harassing, insulting and provoking US officials and journalists, Bashir and his gang my have flushed the last grain of international credibilty they had down the drain.
