Bush in Brussels (1) - Car delivery

This Sunday evening, president Bush will arrive in Brussels for a 3-day visit to NATO, the EU, and the Belgian King and prime minister. Preparations are underway.

Today, a giant Boeing C-17 Globemaster III airlifter landed at Brussels airport.

Inside the aircraft: the vehicles of the presidential motorcade.

This is one of the two modified Cadillac Devilles, the car in which the president will travel. One of the high-tech features: night vision for the driver. The car can withstand chemical, biological and classic explosive attacks.

Exiting the airport...

The highway that connects the airport with downtown Brussels was closed down temporarily while the motorcade drove to the US Embassy.

Ninety minutes after landing, the C-17 took off again, probably heading back to Andrews Air Force Base near Washington DC.

I took these screenshots from TV station VTM. The stream (broadband, narrowband) is available for a week, the Bush car report starts at 8:20 in the stream.

I heard the whole shebang will comprise 700 people. I had rather expected a Galaxy.
