Royal Leg Gone Astray
This official Christmas holiday photograph of Spanish King Juan Carlos, his wife Queen Sofia and their seven grandchildren is fake. Very official, but also very fake. Did you notice that the King's right leg has disappeared? The royal couple never posed in front of the camera with all seven grandchildren. The photo was tricked, it is a montage. "It was impossible to get the whole family together on the same day", a spokesman admitted after newspaper El Mundo had raised questions on the authenticity. Spanish blogger Maggie has more.

maandag, 20 maart, 2006 - 11:08I forgot to mention that all this silly "stuff" about Franco statues is just a way to bring back the painful memories that all us spaniards managed to forget somehow in the last 20 years. You can't change history by removing statues. He has been forced to do all this by his nationalists "friends" in Catalunya who want the Spanish "republica" back. Catalunya nationalists despise the spanish flag, the spanish language, the spanish crown... and they are doing their best to "divide" spaniards, through Zapatero, of course. I have no idea what the rest of the world think of Zapatero and his government, but believe me, there are so many things they are doing wrong that I would not be surprised if all this ended in another civil war... I only hope Spaniards are mature enough
Zapatero is where he is because 192 people died on 11th March 2002. They forced people to believe that Aznar lied. And now after two years is easy to find out he did not lie (you only have to look for information and follow that Media which is not controlled by the government, and read the summary about that 11-M... )
And believe me, we will never know the truth of What really happened that day because the actual government is doing his best to keep everyone silent. Zapatero does not want the truth to be known... guess why...

maandag, 20 maart, 2006 - 10:43zapatero has done a lot for Spain? Yes indeed.
He has managed to do what nobody has done in the last 25 years: promote a division between Spaniards.
He has led ETA to be as strong as it used to be 8 years ago.
Not to mention Gas natural/Endesa (what a shame!!)
Not to mention 3/11 investigation (or must I say no-investigation?)
I'm Spanish and I am starting to believe that this guy is tearing this country into pieces. I feel ashamed as so many other spaniards.
Actual government is becoming more and more dictatorial.
I only wish next elections will have a completely different result!

Yeah, I heard about that you fruitcake. Anyway, I don't particularly object to a continued reign of Zapatero and his likes, because they have decided to pursue self-annihilating demographics. A typical Spanish couple is now down to, uhn 1.1 child? So the Spanish having gone pussy is a problem that in time will solve itself.
I don't know about statues from that era still in Spanish streets, but it is clear that Zapaterlain REFUSES to speak out against the HORRIBLE crimes committed by the socialist/communist regime in 36-39. George Orwell did not change camp for nothing.
And say what you will about the Caudillo, he was a smart man who lured the Nazis and Fascists into believing that he was one of them, used their forces to clean the commies out, and kept his country out of WWII. It is true that he was a rightwing dictator, but that's the good thing with rightwing dictatorships: in time they lead to democracies because they allow for people to prosper economically, even if you have to shut up politically. That is why Spain under Franco knew the so-called "Milagro Espanol" and gradually became rich, while regimes like in Cuba and NK ar bound to remain miserable forever.
But go on cheering for Bambi my boy.

Thank God (:p) that the extreme right - Aznar and his Partido Populisto - lost the elections.
Tell me, are there statues of that particular socialist regime that are being displayed and honoured in the Spanish streets? I don't think so, thus your argument is quite out of the question.

vrijdag, 30 december, 2005 - 22:25Zapatero sucks.
Fucking hypocrite also. Removes statues of the Caudillo everywhere. Look, Franco's murky way to rise to power and the violation of human rights under his reign should not be swept under the carpet, but that A-hole Bambi should then also point to the horrible atrocities committed by the socialists in 1936-1939.
I heard that the Spanish in Ceuta (or Melilla?) protested so strongly against the removal of Franco's statue that the city council put it back. Great!!! Sometimes it looks like the only Spaniards with a spine left live not on the Iberian mainland.

Your anti-Catalunya entry is ridiculous and full of hate ("Catalonian nazionalists", are you ten years old or what?).
Visqui Catalunya!

vrijdag, 30 december, 2005 - 00:46Maggie here... I wrote my article with the same tongue-in-cheek humor as the king did using this fake photo as an official present to the Spanish people. The response from the royal spokesman when confronted about the photo being fake? He said, "nobody said anything about it being a real photo". What nerve! Even worse, he continued, "the fact that it's a montage doesn't reduce the affection the royal family has for all who receive their greetings". Lovely, isn't it?
