Pope visited 128 countries

CNN has a list (from 2001) of the 125 countries the late Pope has visited during his term. Adding Ukraine, Armenia and Bulgaria, and using the World66 web application, I generated a map of these countries.

Any additions or corrections? Let me know.

NOTE TO SELF: regenerate map with following countries added: Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaidjan, Kazakhstan, Swaziland, which brings the total to 133. Thanks to Paul Belien for the addition.

@ Nadine

Well, I might say that everything is OK with my intestinal system, and I do know what a loo is. And I hope the same for you.

But apart from that I have 8.986.765 other "interests".

@Luc: thanks, but I meant nothing by it.

Loconel Dope: "I presume they kicked you out of London's Speakers' Corner?"

Why, do loonielefties gather there?

"locking yourself up in the loo can help you in your miserable situation."

Dunno what a loo is so can't heed your advice but to reciprocate I suggest you hug a tree somewhere. Sucker.

@Michael: Yes, he's dead, I know. We have the mainstream media to report extensively about that. I don't feel the urge to write something profound about his life or his dead, at least not today. Maybe tomorrow. And of course you can vent your opinion on the pope on pages like http://lvb.net/it...

OK, I've added de word "late" to reflect the fact that I know he's dead.

Hey Outlaw, when will you finally realize that your recurrent rhetoric forced propaganda against (what you call) "Lunatic Leftism" gets very boooooooring? I presume they kicked you out of London's Speakers' Corner?

A tip: locking yourself up in the loo can help you in your miserable situation.

Ok. I'm sorry. That was not very polite.

May John Paul II rest in peace. While at first I would tend to think his reign did a lot of harm to the Catholic Church, I realize that perception is colored since I live in Europe, where snobby postmodernism and Lunatic Leftism have essentially killed religiosity. On other continents the Catholic Church, or Christianity for that matter, is alive and kicking.

Since the European Left is more concerned with keeping alive the yellow-backed flatfooted red-beaked Flappus Birdus than keeping alive Homo Sapiens, while the latter is thriving quite well in the Americas, Asia and Africa, John Paul II probably was a better shepherd than we realize.

If any reaction can be given from a positive stand, it would be that apparently this pope had understood that the world is a battlefield when it comes to ethical values. One can think whatever he wants about morality, but it looks like Paul IV at least understood that the world-wide reduction, if not disappearance, of moral standards, needed to be dealth with not just from behind a desk.
